I genuinely believe contacting a therapist and pursuing therapy is an act of bravery and courage. I never lose sight of that. While some issues can be addressed with brief, solutions-focused therapies, other concerns and struggles may be rooted deeper and require different therapeutic approaches. I use elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, and psychodynamic therapy to guide treatment approaches. Another thing I never lose sight of is that fact that each person is unique. The issues and concerns that bring a person to therapy have to be approached with this idea of uniqueness in mind. , I work with individual adults facing a broad spectrum of challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief/loss/bereavement, life transitions, relational issues, acute and chronic medical concerns, and traumas. As a general frame of reference, the age range of clients that I work with would be ages 26 and upward. , My style is conversational and relational. I might use metaphors and analogies as tools to help visualize problems and solutions. Humor can also be therapeutic. Among the most powerful realizations I have experienced as a therapist is that once clients begin to trust in their inner strength, wisdom, and natural abilities, profound changes often occur.
