As a client once told me, "Grief is like open-heart surgery without an anesthetic." Grief is a universal experience although each person\s grief journey is unique. Those experiencing the death of a loved one, friend, or pet, along with other losses such as divorce, illness, relocation, unemployment, or retirement may benefit from counseling specific to grief and loss. I have had the honor of walking alongside many as they navigate their grief journey and know first-hand the benefit of compassionate counseling. , I practice from a Strength-Based perspective which encourages clients to identify and utilize personal strengths to heal from their loss. Strength-Based therapy acknowledges the client’s resilience, drawing upon their internal and external strengths to effectively cope with their grief. I am also trained in various other therapeutic models. , I consider my profession a calling rather than a career. As a therapist with 20+ years’ experience, licensed in Colorado and Missouri, my areas of expertise include oncology, end-of-life care, griefwork, and life transitions.
