I have been working with parents and children for 20 years and I specialize in finding the underlying causes of behavior in order to help children develop an identity as competent and confident young people. When working with and supporting parents, we will develop plans together to help build the skills necessary to modify behavioral outcomes in home and school settings. I work from a solutions-focused perspective that can hopefully generate some quick action steps in addition to the underlying work on causes, building self-esteem, and developing identity. , All families and children are unique & need different tools at different times. With young children, developing these tools often involves play therapy, art therapy, learning new ways to move & use our body, working on cognitive awareness, & doing narrative work. For parents, I most often utilize motivational interviewing & supporting environmental changes. , I know that parents need some immediate action steps, and unlike other therapists, we will be able to do that.
