Past experience impacts present experience because in order to make sense of the world when we were young we created adaptive beliefs and behaviors to survive difficult experiences. Adaptive beliefs and behaviors from childhood do not serve us in adulthood. Any experience that changes the way we perceive ourselves, the world, and others is traumatic. I am a therapist specializing in the treatment of complex trauma & attachment wounds.
